PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
We recognize that parents play a crucial role in the development of their children's personalityand leadership. With this in mind, we get parents excited about and involved in the program even before their children begin participating. We conduct meetings with the principals, coordinators, leaders, scholars, and their parents at their respective schools shortly after the students are accepted into the program. In addition, we invite parents to the different events that we host. We begin each year with a Leadership Scholars Family Cookout and conclude each year with a Leadership Scholars Family Celebration. The families of the leaders and scholars do an excellent job attending these events, as well as staying involved in several activities in between these events. We conduct a parent workshop at every other Leadership Development Workshop. In addition, parents volunteer to chaperone for field trips and help out in other ways.
